In August 2014 I had one of my territory managers injure himself and was out of action for a minimum of three month. Through Plum-Agencies relationships at store level, I was contacted by Deanna Chiang the Director of Plum Agencies and she sold me on the service and people she had at her disposal. I complete trade references on Deanna and Plum Agencies and everyone I spoke to, spoke highly of Deanna and Plum-Agencies.
During a four month period Deanna and her team where able to turn a poor performing territory around and achieve our year-end sales target. During this time we also had our major launch of the year on Alfa One Extra Virgin Olive Oil, Plum-Agencies was able to achieve 100% distribution within two weeks. This was a huge concern for the business when you have a third party selling your products and would they be able to meet the business expectations. Plum-Agencies delivered the speed to market target and also within this time sold in Oil relay in three of our major accounts which our territory manager wasn’t able to achieve.
Once my territory manager came back to work in November another opportunity eventuated when one of my territory managers handed in their notice. This was right on Christmas time, but as business we didn’t hesitate to give Plum-Agencies the opportunity to cover this territory.
Through regular meetings with Deanna Chiang I spoke to her about the high cost to service the Northland area. I looked at our current service levels and return on investment with regards to having your own employees servicing the Northland area. In January 2015 we made the decision to get Plum-Agencies to servicing the Northland area on our behalf. In January we launched 7 new sku’s in our Hansells Yoghurt range, Plum-Agencies have been able to increase our current range and also improve our physical availability within our customer base.
As a business we have development a real partnership with Plum-Agencies and I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend them to anyone supplier or manufacture within the FMCG industry.
